ACTIVE SOLAR HEATING
Basic Solar Air heating system

This diagram illustrates the relationship of all components of a Solar Air heating system.

The air distribution is determined by temperature and need. When the sun is shining and the collector panels are producing heat, the heated air can be distributed to the house, if there is a demand, or into storage, if there is no demand.

If the sun is not shining and heat is not being produced, the air will flow from storage to the house or from the backup system to the house.

The air flows upward thru the collectors and downwards thru the storage bin when storing heat.

The air flows from the house upwards thru the storage bin when using stored heat to warm the space.
