ACTIVE SOLAR HEATING
Active Solar Panels

The solar panel collects the suns rays and converts it into heat. A solar collector panel consists of three components.

  1. Glass or glazing to allow sunshine to pass thru
  2. Collector plate to capture sun's energy
  3. Ducts or pipes to ransfer heated medium

Optimal direction is due south. Installation 20 degress east or west of due south results in a 5 percent decrease in performance.

Optimum angle is latitude plus 10 degrees. A tilt of plus or minus 10 degrees from this number results in a 3 percent decrease in performance.
